"VELVET NIGHT"
by I. Schitznow
The sunset dies a gentle death,
Upon nightfall's ever sweet breath,
Silver stars shyly take their place,
As a glowing moon reigns with grace.
Uncaptured beauty scents the air,
A perfume sought but captured rare,
Like the softened scent of an open rose,
Velvet petals of time exposed.
Dew descends like eider down,
Cloaking the night in a pearly gown,
Fireflies keep their evening tryst,
As willows dance in the falling mist.
Awakening from it's silent sleep,
A crimson dawn slowly creeps,
Chasing away my velvet night,
With glowing of it's light.
Gone are the stars and fireflies,
Gone the beauty of an evening sky,
I hold it's petals softly near,
As velvet night gently disappears.
